John Silver

John Silver started painting from a very young age and later decided to pursue art as a career. He drew inspiration from artists in the Banana Hill and Ngecha region where he later became a founding member of Banana Hill Art Studio. John's paintings and prints have a dream-like quality, full of colour, texture and fantasy. His woodcut prints and paintings have found their way to several institutions, among them Victoria and Albert Art Museum Collection in London and Prince Anderrz Emmt De Lilia in Longhouse Collection in Canada. John also trains aspiring artists and runs an arts program, Rhino Care Arts Project, for disadvantaged children who live in the slums of Nairobi. His art awards include the 2000 Best Painter, Alliance Francaise, Kenya; 2005 Best Print Maker, Victoria and Albert Museum, London; and the 2016 FIE Museum of Print Makers in Yokohama Japan. His work has been published in the Islands of Creativity, Business Daily (Kenya), and the Kenya Arts Diary.
